This year Ukraine marked 155 years jubilee since Fridtjøf Nansen, Norwegian explorer, scientists, humanitarian, Nobel Peace Prize laureate, was born. Nansen Center for Peace and Dialogue was one of the initiators for marking this jubilee and Steinar Bryn from NCPD participated at different events in Kharkiv. (more…)

– Steinar Bryn’s peacebuilding work has kept him busy in Norway, eastern Europe and elsewhere around the world, but his ties to Pacific Lutheran University run deep.

The repeat Nobel Peace Prize nominee has developed and supported dialogue centers in the Balkans for nearly two decades.

But in that time Bryn, Ph.D., also has taught in PLU’s communication department, supported Fulbright scholars, hosted study away students and peace scholars, and supported faculty research. (more…)

Despite the fact that we do not hear about the conflict in Donbass very often these days, Ukraine stays on agenda for NCPD in 2016 as well. Moreover, this year we are marking 155 years since Fridtjof Nansen was born which means that without Ukraine this jubilee would not be complete. Nansen made significant contribution with his humanitarian help under famine in 1921-1923 in Eastern Ukraine which saved 6 million people from starvation. (more…)
