Steinar Bryn participated in Fridtjøf Nansen’s jubilee in Ukraine.

This year Ukraine marked 155 years jubilee since Fridtjøf Nansen, Norwegian explorer, scientists, humanitarian, Nobel Peace Prize laureate, was born. Nansen Center for Peace and Dialogue was one of the initiators for marking this jubilee and Steinar Bryn from NCPD participated at different events in Kharkiv. There was an opening ceremony of a new classroomIMG_2759 named after Fridtjof Nansen in in the VN Karazin Kharkiv National University with speeches delivered by university rector Vil Bakirov, the first Ambassador of Norway to Ukraine (1992-1996) Øyvind Nordsletten, the First Secretary for Administrative Affairs of the Embassy of Norway in Ukraine Bjornar Gudmestad Teigen, Deputy Head of the Ukrainian Center for Concordance Olga Zelenyuk, adviser of the field Office of United Nations High Commissioner for refugees in Kharkiv Anna Kirvas and Kharkiv City Council representatives.

The ceremony was followed by laying down flowers to F.Nansen’s memorial board and screening documentary “Reunion. 10 years after the war” with discussions. It was agreed that all parties represented at the jubilee will join their forces to support development of Nansen Network in Ukraine and particularly in Khakriv.
